Designer’s Solutions
- Remove a portion of an existing wall that separated the kitchen and dining room to create a more open flow.
- Move the stove to the north wall, allowing for more countertop and storage space by the open bar area.
- Specify a refrigerator model that would not dominate the room.
- Enhanced the kitchen’s lighting by combining general lighting (ceiling cans), task lights (under cabinet lighting), and decorative lighting (over sink) for added function and interest.
- Raised the back of the existing area for additional storage and a more aesthetically pleasing look.
- Incorporated a wine cooler into the design.
Special Notes
- Project won the regional National Association of the Remodeling Industry’s 2000 Contractor of the Year award in the $40,000-$60,000 category.
